The Veronicas est un groupe composé tout d'abord de deux jumelles prénommées, Jessica et Lisa Origliasso. Toutes les deux nées le 25 décembre 1984 à Brisbane. Ces deux australiennes révèlent dès leur plus jeune âge un réel talent pour l'écriture et le chant. A l'âge de 15 ans, influencées par AC/DC ou encore Roy Orbison elles formèrent The Veronicas mélangeant rock, hip-hop, r&b et punk créant une musicalité unique. Elles passèrent l'année suivante à créer une démo de 15 chansons avec différents compositeurs. En effet, elles sont invitées à travailler avec entre autres avec Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Clif Magness (Avril Lavigne) and Rick Nowels (Dido) pour ne citer qu'eux. C'est avec Sire Record qu'elles signèrent leur premier contrat. L'enregistrement s'effectua immédiatement à Los Angeles avec des producteurs tels que Max Martin (Britney Spears), Don Gilmore (Linkin Park), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson) et Toby Gad (Enrique Iglesias). « The secret life of... » est le résultat d'une longue détermination qui amena The Veronicas au sommet des charts australiens. Quatre singles sont sortis de cet album : 4ever, Everything I'm not, When It all falls apart et Revolution.
